about Erik

Erik Roscam Abbing MSc MDM (Seattle, 1969) is the founder of Zilver brand driven innovation in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Zilver is a creative consultancy operating at the crossroads of branding, innovation and design. Roscam Abbing studied Industrial Design Engineering at the Technological University of Delft (1995, cum laude) and Design Management at Inholland/Nijenrode (cum laude, 2005).

After having gained extensive product design experience at Flex/the innovationlab and Axys Innovations he founded the product design agency Zilver in 1999. Within Zilver Roscam Abbing focused on creating synergy between the branding, innovation and design disciplines for his clients. Meanwhile he completed his second master education in Design Management. His research dissertation ‘brand driven innovation, fulfilling brand promise through new product development’ gained him the title Master of Designmanagement in 2005.

Since 2006 Erik is fully focussed on brand driven innovation, consulting on branding, design and innovation issues for clients like Illy, Mexx, Trespa international, the Nomad company, Fatboy, NLISIS, and DKB. In 2006 he also founded Designest, a multidisciplinary design think tank helping clients gain design consistency and meaning over all brand touchpoints.

Roscam Abbing is also a part time teacher at the faculty of Industrial Design at the Technological Universtity of Delft where he develops and teaches the masterclasses Brand & Product Strategy and Design Strategy and mentors graduation projects that deal with branding and product design. Next to that he is a guest teacher in the Eurib Master of Brand Management programme and at Hochschule Lucerne and module coordinator of the Eurib Master of Design Management programme.
Erik lives in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, with his wife and two children.
